The SMEboard now has 588 listed companies with a total market value of RMB 3.1 trillion that trade at an average price earnings multiple of 34.7 times.
The SMEboard was launched in 2004 to assist smaller growth companies in China to raise capital, and the Shenzhen stock exchange added the ChiNext board, a NASDAQ-type exchange for high-growth, high-tech start-ups, in 2010.
