One bright note came from small- and mid-size businesses, those with 499 employees or less, which saw employment growing by 84, 000, while large business saw a drop of 26, 000.
While the action was fairly subdued and the indices did recover from their mid-day lows, it is important to note that the small- and mid-cap segments have been getting slammed this week.
