Mum got home earlier than expected which was a good thing because I'd needed a distraction to keep my mind sane for the rest of the afternoon. I flew downstairs and entered the kitchen, searching through the refrigerator for a nice cool can of coke or fanta. Mum entered and grinned at me. She was looking pale, thinner and her eyes were shadowing several dark rings of sleep deprivation. But the bright blue neatly ironed jacket that barely clung to her shoulders were always a good colour and it made her seem more brighter and awake I should say. She dropped her bag, kicked of her clunky sickeningly gross high heels, and embraced me.
