abstract:Semidocumentary is a form of book, film, or television program presenting a fictional story that incorporates many factual details or actual events, or which is presented in a manner similar to a documentary. Stylistically, it has certain similarities to Italian Neorealism, such as the use of location shooting and employing non-actors in secondary roles.
With a lot of patient craft, the co-directors of this frisky yet semi-tragic 1995 documentary, Jeanne Jordan and Steven Ascher, record the final months that Russel and Mary Jane Jordan spent on the Iowa farm that by 1990 had been in the family for almost a hundred and twenty-five years.
