The organization, then, is put on trial, along with the individuals at its helm and the lower-echelon soldiers, with the goal of breaking upthe crime entity and putting the individuals away for a long time. (Life sentences are not unusual in RICO prosecutions.) Mobsters are dangerous, the thinking went, so we need a means of getting them off the street for good.
