Although most of the works are of submasterpiece quality, the show contains some real treats, among them the everyday beauty of Silvestro Lega's "The Villino Batelli at Piagentina" (1863), the straightforward landscape drawings of Philadelphia illustrator Joseph Pennel (who's a revelation for me), and Sargent's magnificently understated 1913 portrait of Henry James.
