The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), the main rebel group fighting for political autonomy and local resource control in the oil-producing Niger Delta region, has called off its unilateral ceasefire, just weeks after announcing the move.
It turns out people who identify as Democrats or liberals are substantially more likely to say they consider Facebook and other social networks like Twitter and LinkedIn an important resource for keeping up with political news and promoting their pet causes.
This conclusion is also supported by the evidence showing that the greatest gains have been achieved by Liberia and Rwanda, resource-poor countries emerging from political crises.
