Due to the financial problems affecting the club during Alexandre Gaydamak's time as owner and the six-week reign of 10% stake-holder Sulaiman Al Fahim's, Hart was forced to sell a number of star players including Jermain Defoe, Peter Crouch and Glen Johnston.
