abstract:The Rt Hon. Sir Peter Gibson (born 1934) is a former British barrister and Lord Justice of Appeal of the Court of Appeal of England and Wales, and is currently a judge of the Qatar International Court.
Sir PeterGibson is chair of the ongoing detainee inquiry, which was set up last year by Prime Minister David Cameron to investigate the alleged involvement in torture by UK security agencies.
On September 5th David Cameron, the prime minister, announced that a planned inquiry into possible British complicity in torture, to be led by Sir PeterGibson, another retired judge, would include the Belhadj episode in its purview.
