On the scene were forty Kurdish workers, twenty German and Turkish archeology students, and an official from the Izmir museum ofarcheology, who had been appointed by the Turkish Ministryof Culture andTourism to keep tabs on progress and to insure that the ruins were being made accessible to the two hundred or so tourists who turned up every day.
