abstract:Metcalfe Street is a downtown arterial road in Ottawa, Canada. It is named for Charles Theophilus Metcalfe, a nineteenth-century Governor General of the Province of Canada.
The boulevard idea, mimicking Haussmann's work in Paris and Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, dates back to 1916, when Parliament's buildings burned down and it had to meet in the museum at the far end of MetcalfeStreet.
Earlier this year, Metcalfe staged a three-day photo shoot of the latest looks in Native fashion, from couture to street wear, with fashion photographer Anthony Thosh Collins and L.A.-based designer Bethany Yellowtail.
