abstract:Britt Max Mayfield (born on September 19, 1948 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma) is a meteorologist who served as the director of the National Hurricane Center from 2000 to 2007. As director, Mayfield became a trusted voice in preparing for weather-related disasters, particularly those involving tropical storms and hurricanes.
According to MaxMayfield, director of the National Hurricane Center, seawater from a hurricane's storm surge can be just as deadly as abnormally strong winds.
"We're becoming very concerned that as it moves in the gulf, even though it will weaken over the peninsula, it will have a very good chance to restrengthen into a hurricane over the Gulf of Mexico, " said MaxMayfield, director of the hurricane center.
We have the teleconference where Dr. MaxMayfield, who runs the National Hurricane Center, told President Bush in a teleconference that there's a possibility that a Category 3 hurricane might topple the levee system in New Orleans, and he said thank you and didn't even answer any other questions.
