Kellermann and University of Washington pathologist Donald Reay examined gunshot deaths in KingCounty, Washington from 1978 to 1983, concluding that of 398 people killed in a home where a gun was kept, only two were shot when trying to get in.
Hunter Handsfield, a professor of medicine at the University of Washington and director of public health in Seattle and KingCounty, says that the aforementioned disorder is rare and not very dangerous.
