"Well, thank you for the walk, Lance," I said as I opened the door. Lance bowed politely. Then, he just stood there. I raised an eyebrow at him. "Lance? Is there something more you wanted to say?" He shook his head and opened the door for me. I thanked him. He gestured me to go inside. "Lance, you seem so eager to watch me go inside my accomodations," I said gullibly. He shrugged. I lifted up my skirt as I stepped over the invisible wire that Lance had placed in at the foot of the door. Then I plucked the wire and held it between my index finger and thumb, and held it up high as if to examine it. "Could this be the reason?" I asked innocently. Lance gaped at me openmouthed. "It is not very gentlemanly to place an invisible wire in front of a lady's door so she'll trip over it and humiliate herself," I said in a scolding tone of voice. He shook his head.
