The SP2 update for those using the HomeEdition of XP was made available last week as a "trial", said the spokesperson, but Microsoft did not make it available automatically to all until Wednesday.
Last year, Microsoft was forced to release a bowdlerized version of its Windows XP software, later named Windows XPHomeEdition N--the 'N' in the new name standing for "not with media player".
