The spice originated in Dongguan was called as “Guan Spice”, mostly distributed in this little inlet (Wu Pai Bay). The sellers shipped the spice to the capital city and then transshipped to Suzhou City, Hangzhou City and the capital. Thus, this little inlet was called as “fragrant harbour” (“Hong Kong” in English), and the village was called “Hong Kong Village”.
