Over the weekend, the right-leaning Christian Democratic Party (CDU) of German Chancellor Angela Merkel suffered an embarrassing, yet predictable, defeat by the left-leaning Greenparty in a key region ofGermany.
They reportedly are planning to gain jurisdiction over the United States by bringing a case against one of its NATO partners (perhaps Germany, whose GreenParty Foreign Minister might readily agree to jurisdiction) on the grounds that U.S. allies participate in setting nuclear policy for NATO.
The country's GreenParty, now coalition partners of Socialist Chancellor Gerhard Schrder, are demanding that Germany decommission its nuclear plants within seven years.
