According to CBS News, The Generic Pharmaceutical Association, a trade group for generic drugmakers, moved quickly to defend the track record of both the FDA and its companies.
Drugstores also believe pay-for-delay deals "pose considerable harm to patients because they postpone the availability of generic drugs which limits patient access to generic medications, " said Chrissy Kopple of the National Association of Chain Drug Stores.
Last year drug giant Eli Lilly enlisted the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy to take a look at Web sites that purported to sell "generic" versions of Lilly drugs.
