Absolutely petrified, I ducked from the man. I turned and accidently tripped, slamming into the unyielding ground. Tears stung my eyes and I could taste blood as I struggled to my feet. Fear gripped my heart. I fled to our front porch as fast as I could, terrified that Dylan's father was right at my heels. But even when my sneakers touched the stained wood, I didn't feel safe. That only came when I rushed into the house, slamming the door behind me. Even as I lay in the front hallway, sobbing, I didn't feel one hundred percent safe.
