预科是指大学基础课程（University Foundation Year）或桥梁课程（Bridging course），读大学前的预备教育，一般都要求海外高中毕业生读1年左右的预科，以适应国外的学习方式。 国外大学一般都有预科课程或指定学院教授预科课程，留学生完成1年预科后，根据成绩决定能否升入原先选择的院校，也可根据成绩转入其它更好的大学。
