Key to this work has been the development of a core 3-day curriculum, career readinessstandards, three optional tracks for transition (Higher Education, Technical Training, and Entrepreneurship), as well as options for learning in brick-and-mortar classrooms and online.
The SAT data mirror scores from the ACT college-entrance exam which showed about 75% of students failed to meet college-readiness standards and served to increase the hand-wringing over whether U.S. high-school students are prepared to attend college and compete in a global economy.
However, because college and career readiness overwhelmingly focuses on complex texts outside of literature, these standards also ensure students are being prepared to read, write, and research across the curriculum, including in history and science.
