The eerie emptiness of Trafalgar Square is contrasted in the Times with a picture from 24 hours earlier when it was packed solid with cheering, flag waving crowds celebrating news of London's successful Olympic bid.
The beach front was packedwith stalls, selling cheap souvenirs of the revolution - flags, badges, stickers - and with cheerful crowds listening to speeches, and manning an eclectic collection of tents housing various clubs and associations, each with its own particular take on Libya's unfinished revolution.
In a diminutive state seemingly so tightly packedwith beachfront development, it is astoundingly easy to escape the tourist crowds and find your own patch of sand-based paradise.
