Stoke-on-Trent City Council, which is joint owner of the original hoard with the Birmingham Museum and ArtGallery, has said it will start a fundraising campaign to buy the new pieces.
Stoke-on-Trent City Council and BirminghamCity Council jointly own the 3, 500 artefacts and have permanent displays at the Potteries Museum and ArtGallery and Birmingham Museum and ArtGallery.
