In the mid-1970s, Chile and Argentina became involvedin what came to be known as the Beagle Conflict, a territorial dispute over the nearby Picton, Lennox, and Nueva islands.
One of these women allegedly was later involvedinadispute about how much she was to be paid for the night, which brought the entire incident to light and sparked controversy in the United States and Colombia.
