abstract:Ashley Gilbertson (born 22 January 1978) is a photographer with the VII Photo Agency known for his images of the Iraq war and the effects of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq on returning veterans and their families. Born in Melbourne, Australia, he started his career at thirteen taking pictures of skateboarders.
"We need that side of the story, " said photographer AshleyGilbertson, whose photographs of Iraq many of which have appeared in the New York Times have tended to focus on civilians and U.S. troops.
