abstract:The Air Force Services Agency (AFSVA) conducts research and development, policy implementation, and provides technical expertise in support of the bases, major commands, and Air Staff. It oversees the worldwide operation of the Air Force fitness program, food service, lodging, mortuary affairs, readiness, libraries, management information systems, family member programs, non-appropriated fund transformation, purchasing, construction, non-appropriated fund food and beverage operations, amusement machines, Tops In Blue, Air Force-level sports, the world-class athlete program, golf, bowling, outdoor recreation, aero clubs, arts and crafts, tickets and travel, plans and force management, and training.
In the end the NSA became the primary owner, the NRO (National Reconnaissance Office) owned and built the spacecraft that collected the intelligence and the military branches had organizations (Air Force Security Services, Army Security Agency or Naval Security Group) that manned the collection platforms (airplanes, listening posts, etc) which all fed back into the National Security Agency.
AeroVironment hopes to generate sales not just from services like the Army and AirForce, but also from the Central Intelligence Agency, the Department of Homeland Security (for help with border control) and weather services (for storm tracking and disaster recovery).
