abstract:Imam Abu Muhammad Ibn Muhammad Abubakar Ash Shekawi is an Islamist leader of the Nigerian militant group Boko Haram. He served as deputy leader to the group's founder, Mohammed Yusuf, until Yusuf was killed in 2009.
In a YouTube video posted Tuesday, the group's spiritual leader, Imam AbubakarShekau, warned of more attacks against Christians, who include President Goodluck Jonathan.
An audio statement believed to be from the group's leader, AbubakarShekau, said the group had done no wrong so an amnesty could not apply to its members.
While the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan has started a committee to look at the idea of offering an amnesty deal to extremist fighters, Boko Haram leader AbubakarShekau has dismissed the idea out of hand in messages.
