退行性膝关节炎又称增生性膝关节炎、肥大性关节炎、老年性关节炎。退行性膝关节炎是由于膝关节的退行性改变和慢性积累性关节磨损而造成的，以膝部关节软骨变性，关节软骨面反应性增生，骨刺形成为主要病理表现。临床上以中老年人发病多见，特别是50～60岁的老年人，女性多于男性。
