资产收益是凭借所占有的资产取得的收益，如存款利息、股息、红利等。资产作为收益源泉不外是两种形式，一种是资金所有者通过存款方式进行间接投资，取得存款利息;另一种是资金所有者用于生产性投资，成为生产资料所有者从而获得股息红利或直接经营收入。只承认间接投资的存款利息的合法性，不承认直接投资的利润收益的合法性，会造成资金不足。资金在社会再生产过程中具有极重要的作用，需要鼓励人们从收入中的一部分转化为投资，以满足再生产的需要。
