诱因：指能够引起有机体定向行为，并能满足某种需要的外部条件 20世纪50年代以后，许多心理学家认为，不能用驱力降低的动机理论来解释所有的行为，外部刺激(诱因)在唤起行为时也起到重要的作用，应该用刺激和有机体的特定的生理状态之间的相互作用来说明动机。例如，吃饱了的动物在看到另一个动物在吃食，将会重新吃食物，这时的动机是由刺激引起的，人类经常追求刺激，而不是力图消除紧张使机体恢复平衡。诱因理论强调了外部刺激引起动机的重要作用，认为诱因能够唤起行为并指导行为。
