蜗轮滚刀主要加工蜗轮，加工方法跟齿轮滚刀原理差不多，不同的是蜗轮滚刀加工蜗轮时候是不搬螺旋升角的，齿轮滚刀是搬螺旋升角的。由于加工蜗杆不搬动螺旋升角，螺旋大的涡轮滚刀加工时后角容易碰到。所以加工的时候会很困难，生产也比齿轮滚刀难的多。
