盖氏骨折为桡骨中下1/3骨折合并下尺桡关节脱位，是一种常见损伤。早在1929年称之为反孟氏骨折，其后被称为Piedmont骨折，Compbell则称之为fracture of necessity（必须骨折），因其确信此种损伤必须手术治疗。1934年Galeazzi详细描述了此种损伤，并建议牵引拇指整复之。此后即习惯称此种损伤为盖氏骨折。盖氏骨折，其发生率较孟氏骨折多6倍。
