清宫术即刮宫，清宫术是早期人工流产最常采用的方法。清宫术虽然不用开刀，但也是一种妇科手术，一定要严密消毒的情况下进行。手术分为二个步骤进行，第一步先把子宫颈扩张到足够大小，第二步是用刮匙伸到子宫腔内，把胚胎刮下来。怀孕的时间愈久，胎儿也就愈大，这时就需要把子宫颈扩张到最大限度才能刮出胎儿，所以刮子宫也就更加困难了；同时怀孕时间愈长，子宫也会随着变得愈来愈软，手术时穿破子宫的机会自然也会增多。
