海马齿属（学名：Sesuvium L.）番杏科多年生匍匐草本，全株光滑，肉质，茎多分枝，节节生根；单叶对生椭圆状倒针形，几乎无柄，厚肉质；花单生叶腋，花萼与花瓣合而为一，外侧绿色、内侧紫红色；蒴果盖裂，种子多数，细小，黑色；植株形态与马齿苋相似，由于其生长于海边，故名海马齿。花期夏季。
