未来研究( future studies)即“未来学”。研究人类社会未来的综合性科学。德国未来学家弗勒希特海姆(Ossip Flechtheim，1909-1998)1943年在美国首创。20世纪50年代后迅速发展。从科技和社会互动发展动态的角度，探讨选择、控制甚至改变或创造未来的途径。研究范围涉及众多领域，包括未来人口、未来城市、未来环境污染、未来能源等，．狭义的未来学主要探讨几十年后的社会发展前景，以世界性、高度综合性和远期战略性为特征。广义的未来学还包括预测研究，有人因此主张将广义的未来学称为“未来预测学”或“预测学”。
