显气孔率又称开口气孔率。是指耐火制品中开口气孔的体积与制品总体积的百分比。除指明外，中国耐火材料界所称的气孔率通常是指显气孔率。显气孔率是评价耐火原料或制品质量的重要指标，不仅可反映耐火材料的致密程度，而且还表征其制造工艺中粒度组成、成型和烧成是否合理。除轻质耐火材料制品外，低气孔率原料或制品对于提高产品质量、提高制品的机械强度、减少与熔渣接触的表面积、延长使用寿命都是有益的。
