急性上消化道出血是指屈氏韧带以上的食管、胃、十二指肠和胰管、胆管病变引起的急性出血，胃空肠吻合术后吻合口附近的空肠上段病变所致出血也属这一范围。临床表现为呕血、黑便、血便等。当出血量在短时间内超过1000mL或超过循环血量的20%时，可引起周围循环障碍，严重者可危及生命。
