廖序东（1915.3.23-2006.12.12），湖北汉口人。著名的语言学家、教育家。他把一生的心血都献给了人民的教育事业和语言学事业。
本文就黄伯荣、廖序东先生主编的《现代汉语》(增订三版)词汇部分的一些不当之处，提出一些意见和建议。
