封建礼教是指封建社会一切规矩的总称。一提起封建礼教，人人恨之入骨。但什么是封建礼教呢？封建让人很不舒服。可封建一词是什么意思呢？封建的古意是分封建制的意思。若是按马克思的社会发展学说来定义，则封建制度不属于封建社会。因为封建制度是周朝建立的社会制度，而秦王朝之后封建社会不是用封建制度，而是用中央集权制。官员们都没有自己的封地。可见封建一词定义不准。“礼教”产生的基础是周末的封建制度，说“封建礼教”应该说是那个时代的“礼教”。
