亦称“审美客体”。与“审美主体”相对。指能使人产生审美愉快的事物、对象。它在客观上与人构成一定的审美关系。 在汉语语境中，严格讲，客体属于认识论范畴，对象的使用范围则要广泛得多；在现代西方哲学中，客体指独立于意识之外的某种自在之物，对象则指在意识活动中与意识行为相对的意识相关项，审美客体主要属于认识论哲学范畴，它与审美主体一道构成美学领域中的认识论模式，现代西方美学之所以选择使用审美对象而避免使用审美客体，主要在于力图打破美学理论中的认识论模式，在存在论和价值论等理论视野中来探究各种审美现象。
