半导体超晶格是指由一组多层薄膜周期重复排列而成的单晶。多层薄膜中各层厚度从几个到几十个原子层范围。各层的主要半导体性质如带隙和掺杂水平可以独立地控制。多层薄膜的周期可以在生长时人为控制,因而得到了人造的晶体结构即超晶格。多层薄膜中各层的组分突变的超晶格称为组分调制超晶格;各层掺杂原子型号发生突变的超晶格称掺杂调制超晶格。
