几何投影是指将地球椭球体面上的经纬网投影到辅助投影面上，再展开成地图平面的投影方法。几何投影源于透视几何原理，并以几何特征为依据，将地球面的经纬网投影到平面上或可以展成平面的圆柱面和圆锥面等几何面上，从而构成方位投影、圆柱投影和圆锥投影。
