再贴现率亦称“重贴现率”。商业银行或专业银行用已同客户办理过贴现的未到期合格商业票据向中央银行再行贴现时所支付的利率。再贴现是中央银行对商业银行提供贷款的一种特别形式，也是中央银行控制信贷规模和货币供给量的一个重要手段。在对宏观经济的控制以间接控制为主的国家，中央银行是通过控制再贴现率来控制再贴现从而控制货币供给量的。当国内出现通货膨胀趋势或已有的通货膨胀加剧时，中央银行就提高再贴现率，加重商业银行的筹资成本，迫使其紧缩信贷，从而抑制物价上升。
