储热构造（reservoir structure）是指热储、盖层和热储岩体中的断裂系统。盖层位于储热层之上，起隔水隔热的封闭作用。某些原来无盖层的储热层，经过长期的水热活动，使上覆松散沉积物发生水热蚀变，或热水所含矿物质发生沉淀，使松散沉积物转变为不透水的泉胶岩层，形成的盖层称自封闭盖层（self-sealing caprock）。
