低合金结构钢是指合金成分总量在5%以下的合金结构钢。这种钢的含碳量与低碳钢相似，主要靠少量合金元素进行强化、改善韧性和可焊性。其强度要比同等碳敬的碳素钢高得多。广泛用于压力容器、化工设备、锅炉、桥梁、车辆、船舶及大型钢结构。合金元素锰、硅、钼吋以引起固溶强化作用。钒和铌可细化晶粒、改善韧性。钼可以起到提高淬透性、促使获得贝氏体组织的作用，还可提高热强性。
