中期预测是美国经济中的一种商情预测。该预测时期自1.5年至4年。美国经济学家认为，由于在商业活动上升时需要预测什么时候发生衰退，当商业活动下降时需要预测什么时候复苏等困难问题，因此相对于短期与长期预测来说，中期预测不太受企业的欢迎。一般认为我国在经济体制改革前，不注意经济预测的作用。80年代以来，在宣传中已开始报道工业、商业对市场状况的调查与预测，及其对工业生产及商业经营的重要性。
