西北地区，中国七大地理分区之一。行政区划上的西北地区指陕西、甘肃、青海三省及宁夏、新疆两自治区，自然区划上的西北地区指大兴安岭以西，昆仑山一阿尔金山、祁连山以北的广大地区，大致包括内蒙古中西部、新疆大部、宁夏北部、甘肃中西部以及和这些地方接壤的少量其他省份边缘地带。西北地区荒漠广布，人口密度小，但国际边境线漫长，利于边境贸易。
