“丝绵被”又称“蚕丝被”，是指含有50%以上桑蚕丝（柞蚕丝）用作填料的被褥类床上用品。按照填充料含桑蚕丝和（或）柞蚕丝成分比类型的不同，分为‘纯蚕丝被’和‘混合蚕丝被’两类，其中100%蚕丝的称作“纯蚕丝被”。而填充蚕丝含量低于此标准，但高于50%的叫做“混合蚕丝被”。 按照制作加工方式的不同，可分为“手工”（手拉绵、手剥绵）和“机制”两种。按照原料来源的不同，可分为“桑蚕丝”和“柞蚕丝”。
