须菩提！于意云何？三千大千世界所有微尘是为多不？

把微尘作为媒介思考，三千大千世界虽然叫做三千大千世界，也不过是一大堆灰而已。

那么，那个沙子里面的沙子是不是还有三千大千世界啊……如此推下去，推一万年都推不完。

三千大千世界，略称“大千世界”。佛教说一日月照四天下，覆六欲天、初禅天，为一“小世界”；一千个小世界覆一二禅天，为一“小千世界”；一千个小千世界覆一三禅天，为一“中千世界”；一千个中千世界覆一四禅天，为一“大千世界”。一大千世界有小、中、大三种“千世界”，故称三千大千世界。 一千个小千世界，叫做“中千世界”；一千个中千世界，叫做“大千世界”。一个大千世界，因为它里面有小千、中千、大千，我们称作“三千大千世界”，而三千大千世界为一个佛国土的世界。三千大千世界，是一个大千世界。因为它的结构是从小千，一千个小千是中千，一千个中千是大千，这个三千是讲它组成的结构，而不是这个大千世界是三千个。
