abstract:Chloral betaine is a sleeping tablet or sedative which the body converts to chloral hydrate, which is further metabolized to trichloroethanol, which is responsible for the majority of its effects. Like other drugs of this type chloral betaine is addictive, a small proportion of users who take the drug develop serious or unpleasant side effects.
